Common problems and treatment of stainless steel bearings

In the process of CNC machining, we often encounter some common problems with stainless steel bearings, bearing heating, shaft heating, and so on. When we encounter these problems, how can we solve them? Now we provide some common problems to deal with, I hope everyone  help.

(1) The bearing generates heat.

1. If the bearing lubricating oil is insufficient, add oil and check whether the oil circuit is unobstructed;

2. If the lubricating oil has impurities, the bearing should be cleaned, new oil should be replaced, and the filter should be cleaned;

3. If the assembly is not good, the journal and the stainless steel bearing are skewed, and there is an unbalanced load, a gasket can be added to the bottom of the bearing seat;

4. If the bearing clearance is too small, the closed cooling tower manufacturer should readjust the clearance.

(2) The shaft is heated.

1. If the oil retaining or rubber sealing ring on the shaft is too tight, the position of the packing back cover should be adjusted;

2. If there is radial friction between the shaft and the stainless steel bearing cover, check and adjust the radial clearance between the shaft and the bearing cover, generally 0.25~0.3mm.

(3) The amount of oil on the main friction surface is small.

1. If the oil pipe is blocked and the oil groove is shallow, clean the pipe and deepen the oil groove;

2. If the oil temperature is low and the fluidity is poor, the lubricating oil should be replaced according to the ambient temperature;

3. If the oil ring rotates slowly and the oil splashes badly, check whether the oil ring falls off and rubs the edges. If the oil level is too high, the oil can be drained to the standard height;

4. If the adjusting shim blocks the lubricating oil, check the position of the adjusting shim.

(4) Oil leakage.

1. If the amount of oil is large, the amount of oil supply should be adjusted to maintain the standard height of the oil level;

2. If the sealing device fails, press the gland tightly, thicken the felt ring or replace the sealing material;

3. If the bearing seat has holes or oil seepage, replace the bearing seat or plug the pores with lead filling.

(5) Axial runout.

1. If the bearing clearance is too large, the gasket should be removed and adjusted;

2. If the dynamic balance of the rotating body (gear, belt wheel, etc.) is not good, check and adjust the dynamic balance;

3. If the bearing is not stable, the bolt of the bearing seat should be tightened;

4. If the installation offset of the coupling is large, shims should be added on the ground of the bearing seat to adjust the installation accuracy of the coupling.

The main reasons for the failure of stainless steel bearings are defects and overload.  When the external load exceeds the strength limit of the material and the part breaks, it is called overload fracture.  The main cause of overload is the sudden failure of the host or improper installation.  Defects such as microcracks, shrinkage cavities, bubbles, large foreign objects, overheated tissues, and local burns of bearing parts can also cause fracture at the defect when impact overload or severe vibration, which is called defect fracture.  It should be pointed out that in the manufacturing process of the bearing, the re-inspection of raw materials, the quality control of forging and heat treatment, and the control of the processing process can be used to correctly analyze the existence of the above-mentioned defects through the instrument, and the control must be strengthened in the future.  But generally speaking, most of the fracture failures of stainless steel bearings that usually occur are overload failures.
